The operational real estate firm Compound Real Estate has secured planning permission for a flagship self-storage facility in Tunbridge Wells.
Work on the self-storage and workspace hub 91,000 sq ft building is expected to start later this year.
The unit will sit on the site of a former oil depot on the edge of the commercial and residential zones of Royal Tunbridge Wells. Designed to respond to the residential vernacular to the south, the project provides 91,000 sq ft of BREEAM Excellent, EPC A, digitally enabled, secure self-storage space with EV charging and on-site renewables.
Once completed (Dec-24), this landmark development will deliver a 194% biodiversity net gain, generate 60% of its total energy requirement through on-site renewables and provide much needed signage for local businesses.
Compound Real Estate CEO Jacob Sandelson said: “ This will be the first of many self-storage projects delivered by Compound across the South East of England as we push towards our aim of building the largest privately held self storage portfolio in the UK. The platform prioritises high quality design, ESG and operations, all of which will be exemplified in our Tunbridge Wells scheme”
Design is by DMWR Architects.
